Great films from the 60s or before that even!
I watched the Sound of Music for the first time in ages, sad i know but that Rodgers and Hammerstein could knock out a great tune,

also watched
Cul De Sac over the weekend , fantastic and
The Secret of Santa Vittoria, in which Anthony Quinn as Bombolini is really superbe and
Its a Mad{x5} World, with a lot of recognisable faces and very very funny
anyone out there got any other favourite 50+ years old that they still watch ?

♫........I am sixteen going on seventeen........♫

Re: Great films from the 60s or before that even!
but as The Swimmer was released in 1968 it doesn't qualify for this list of films that are over 50 years old....

So you'll just have to put up with some of this old rubbish instead:

Seven Samurai
Vertigo
Lawrence of Arabia
The Third Man
12 Angry Men
It's a Wonderful Life
Citizen Kane
The Bridge on the River Kwai
The Wizard of Oz
North by Northwest
The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly
The Life & Death of Colonel Blimp
Andrei Rublev
Ikiru
Rear Window
The Red Shoes
Rashomon
The Hidden Fortress
Sansho the Bailiff
Tokyo Story
Samurai Rebellion
Harakiri
The Crucified Lovers

Oh the shame!

Nah, there's none. Can't think of a single one. All films before 1967 were shit.

like all football was shite before the Premier League.

Christ alive, what a revelation!

PS The Swimmer is an amazing film yes.

Re: Great films from the 60s or before that even!
I've been watching an interesting documentary about Walt Disney. Obviously as a kid I saw some of the Disney stuff but watching this documentary it is quite mind boggling how a guy just decided that a feature length animated cartoon (Snow White) was the future. To see how much work this entailed is quite incredible especially considering that we are talking the 1930's here. Quite a visionary.

Re: Great films from the 60s or before that even!
Humprey Bog art was a superb Actor..and Casablanca I have to say is a cracking film..as is Sierra Madre.
Grew up watching these old black and white movies..at the time thought they were fucking Shit. .but you would at 10 rs old.
Not so keen on Cagney films..loved Burton Lancaster and Robert Mitchum.
Later on Paul Newman.
